Henna & Indigo

Hey guys,

So I decided to Henna & Indigo my hair this weekend. It seemed like the perfect time to do it. I was going to do a tutorial but this process was exhausting and time consuming. I won't post everything all over again. If you want to know the recipe and exactly what I did step by step, I have it written it down in my FOTKI for you to view.

I will say I am VERY VERY pleased with the results. My hair came out black! The Henna & Indigo did loosen my hair texture but it also made my hair strands thicker. I plan to moisturize like crazy until my hair restores back to its usual moisture level. Then I will flatiron (which will be next month sometime).

If you are NOT the type to use colors and just love to wear your hair black. I would definitely recommend Henna and Indigo. Its safer, permanent and more natural for the hair than box dyes.

Okay I hope you enjoy!

I Got My Henna & Indigo!!! YEAH!!!

Wow that was fast. I ordered my Henna and Indigo on Friday from http://www.mehandi.com/ and got it today, Wednesday. My mom called and was like "You got a package today" (I thought it was my Nintendo Wii, but that comes next week *is bragging*). She was like "the mail lady just smashed it into the mail box WHAT IS IT!!!" (my mom is nosey). I was praying that mail lady didn't pop the henna packages or I was gonna let her have it. *balls fist*

Well anyways my stuff was unharmed and arrived in great condition. I got two 100g boxes of Jamila Henna Crop 2009. I got two 100g packages of Indigo Powder as well. I also got a 25g sample of Amla Powder (boy that stuff is strong, smells like *looks* kush lol). I wanted to try that because I heard Amla Rinses give great gloss/shine to the hair.

I wanted to Henna & Indigo for a few reasons. One, I love how it conditions and makes the hair stronger. Everyone who I’ve seen that uses Henna on a regular basis has the most awesome hair. Two, My hair is getting longer. I don't need anymore setbacks. Henna & Indigo are permanent, so if I henna I can no longer dye my hair any outrageous colors or dye it blond. Which will prevent any future breakage/setbacks caused from color damage. That’s a done deal. If I want color I will buy a wig.

So I plan to Henna this month or next Month. But definitely before the year is over. I still need a few things. I don't want to use lemon juice because I heard its drying to the hair. So I was going to replace the lemon juice with Chamomile Tea. I also need to research my approach on how to apply it affectively and rinse without any tangles. I have been on youtube watching others and think I got my game plan down a little bit.

So I will be doing a tutorial on my first Henna & Indigo Treatment so be looking for that really soon. If you have used Henna before please feel free to share your experience or advice if you think I need any.

Hair Accessories!

I have been trying to dress up my buns. I grabbed some $1 hair flowers at the BBS. I think they are cute but they don't last that long. Any recommendations on where to get some nice hair accessories online or at a local place, that are cute and LAST!?!?

TIA!

Christmas gifts for...

my hair!! Christmas is coming (omg it was just January 09 what happen to this year? SCARY!) and I will be buying some things I have been wanting to try since going natural. Even though I had a set back, I think I made some great progress.

1. I want to try Henna & Indigo. (Got this, next is a new flatiron)
2. I want to purchase a Sedu, CHI, FHI or Babyliss  (Got a Sedu).
3. I want a nice shoulder length Lacefront wig.
4. Some online natural products like Anita Grant, Mixed Chicks, Carol's Daughter, Qhemet Biologics, etc.
5. Try some powders like Ayuvedic, Shikakai & Amla (still researching on them)

I have other things I want but I limited to just these five. I am aiming at the Henna/Indigo and new a flatiron.

Ugghh, choices!

MBL in 2010???

When I checked the other day while co-washing, I can actually run a line (using my fingers) from under one shoulder blade to the other and cross over my hair in between. So my longest layer is sitting in between BSB YEAH!!! BUT I will not claim anything officially until this Dec when I do my last check of the year with a progress pic!

If I am officially BSB in December (after a little dust/trim) I will only have 2” to go until top of MBL (I’m 5’-6” but my back is not long at all). So AFTER Dec hopefully I can make the top of MBL by my next Hair Anniversary in April 2010. I never thought I would ever post about possibly having MBL hair. Amazing! Even if I don't make it, it will be fun to try!

WOW! I can’t believe in 6 months I will be 2 years into this Natural Hair journey (if I don’t spaze out and fire cream myself). Time sure flys past so fast!

Also my new reggi with flat ironing once a month is paying off big time. The last two co-washes have been like butter. No problems detangling. My ends feel 100% better. I still have a few split ends and ssn but hey you can't find them ALL lol! But I will get them in due time.
